Privacy Policy
Short version: your financial inputs never leave your device.

Your calculator inputs stay in your browser
Every RealMoneyIQ calculator runs entirely client-side in your browser. The numbers you enter — income, savings, balances, ages — are never transmitted to or stored on our servers. When you close the tab, they are gone.
What we do collect
We keep aggregate, cookie-less analytics so we can see which calculators are worth maintaining. For each page view we record the page path, the referring site (not the full URL), a coarse device class — mobile, tablet or desktop — an approximate location (country, state or region, and city) looked up from your IP address, and how long the page was open. That is all. Your IP address itself is never stored: it is used for that lookup and then discarded.
This first-party measurement uses no cookie and no advertising or cross-site identifier. To count returning visits within a day we store a one-way hash derived from your IP address and browser, combined with a secret and the current date. It cannot be reversed, and because the date is part of it, it changes every day — so we cannot follow anyone from one day to the next or across devices. We never receive the values you type into a calculator, we do not sell personal data, and we run no lead-generation pixels.
Google Analytics & your consent
In addition to the cookie-less measurement above, we use Google Analytics to understand overall traffic and which calculators are most used. Unlike our first-party analytics, Google Analytics sets its own cookies (named _ga and _ga_*, which last up to two years) and is only ever loaded with your consent.
The first time you visit, a one-time, non-stored check of your approximate region decides how consent works. In the EU, UK and EEA, Google Analytics stays off until you choose Accept all in the cookie banner — nothing is loaded if you choose Reject non-essential. Everywhere else it is on by default and you can switch it off at any time with the Opt out button or the Cookie preferenceslink in the footer. Your choice is remembered in a single browser-storage value (rmiq_consent) that holds only “accepted” or “rejected” — a preference, not an identifier.
The one thing we can write to your device is an opt-out flag, and only if you ask for it. Visiting realmoneyiq.com/?rmiq_optout=1 stores a single value in your browser that stops us recording your page views entirely; ?rmiq_optout=0 undoes it. It holds a preference, not an identifier, and it only ever reduces what we collect.
Calculators embedded on other people's websites are not tracked at all — if you use a RealMoneyIQ calculator on a third-party site, we record nothing whatsoever.
Cookies
Beyond the essential storage the site needs to function and to remember your region and consent preference, the only cookies we set are Google Analytics' _ga cookies described above, and only after you have consented. We do not use advertising or lead-generation cookies. You can revisit your choice any time via the Cookie preferences link in the footer, or use Google's opt-out browser add-on.
